Reggae singer throws some pop/rock into the mix

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to an early release of Misha's upcoming album, Talk About the follow-up to his widely popular 2009 album Above the Bones. The album is set for release on March 30, 2010.
I typically have to listen to a new album 2 or 3 times before I can determine if I love it. It takes me time to listen to the lyrics and get acquainted with the beats before I can fully form an opinion about an album. Mishka’s new album was an exception; I loved this album from first listen. I was absolutely blown away by every single song. I really enjoyed Above the Bones and thought it was a high quality album but Talk About is notches above that album. The lyrics and production are superior. The thing I love best about Mishka’s music and reggae in general is that it is ‘feel good’ music. It is all about lyrics that matter, lyrics that have feeling and are about making people be in a better mood. Most albums today consist of lyrics that have no meaning or purpose, but that has never been the case for Mishka, he has a real message in every song.
Mishka worked with producer Butch Walker on two tracks for this album and you can definitely notice his influence throughout. The album opens up with ‘Give Them Love’ which is a Mishka signature song with lots of reggae beats and feel good lyrics. "Bittersweet", "Can’t Get Enough" and "Stars Will Be Shining" are my absolute favorites. I can’t help but move along to the beats on "Bittersweet" and "Can’t Get Enough", this is definitely a new more pop/rock sound for Mishka and it sure does fit him well. I love hearing the softer side of Mishka on songs like "Fallen to Rise", "Talk About" and "All Jokes Aside". I honestly don’t have anything bad to say about this album.
I wrote an article about Mishka’s accomplishments in 2009 and stated that musicians needed to step up their game in 2010 in order to compete with Mishka’s next release. Give this album one listen and you will understand why I said that. It is a MUST HAVE album for 2010 and I think that it will blow away even current fans. This will be the best 55 minutes that you spend this year. Give Talk About a listen on March 30 and you won’t be disappointed.
