An old classic that still proves clever through the years

Over the holiday break, I had some extra time to take full advantage of my Netflix account. In addition to the number of films available, Netflix also offers a large array of television series to choose from. I got to relive watching a mystery classic that I had not seen in years.

As a child, I had watched old episodes of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" with my parents in syndication. These clever short stories were always entertaining and had mystery and intrigue. The mystery "mastermind" Alfred Hitchcock responsible for such classics as "The Birds" and "Psycho" brought his talents to the small screen for these segments and he always introduced each episode with a clever monologue that tied in to the main story.

The series was a success and ran over 200 hundred episodes. Many episodes included now well known actors such as Charles Bronson, Rip Torn, Walter Matthau and Cloris Leachman. Another version of the series cropped up in the 1980's to capitalize on the success of it's predecessor.

I've always been partial to the older series; Over 50 years later, these stories crafted by Hitchcock still hold a clever and powerful hold on the mystery genre.

Rating: 45 out of 50.
